Project Overview
A concept nutrition tracking app covering daily logging, a food library with favourites and repeats, a day summary and longer-term progress views. The design treats speed of entry as the core feature.
A concept calorie tracker app designed around fast daily logging, readable progress and habits that survive past the first week.
Calorie Tracker App is a concept project exploring the one thing nutrition apps live or die by: how quickly a user can log a meal. Every screen is measured against the number of taps between opening the app and finishing an entry.
Tracking apps are abandoned because logging is tedious. If a meal takes a minute to record, it will not be recorded for long.
Make logging near-instant through repeats, favourites and search shortcuts, then use the day view to show progress rather than judgement.

The objective was retention through friction removal. Accuracy matters, but an app that is never opened is accurate about nothing.
Clean, data-forward and calm. Numbers are given typographic weight, decorative elements are minimal, and colour is used only to indicate state.
The primary flow is log a meal. Recent and repeated items appear first, portion adjustment is a single control, and confirmation returns the user straight to the day view. Secondary flows — history, goals, trends — are deliberately kept out of the logging path.
A numeric-led type scale, generous tap targets, progress indicators that read at a glance, and a restricted palette where colour signals status rather than decoration.
Built for one-handed phone use with the primary action in thumb reach. Larger screens widen the day view and show trends alongside logging rather than behind a tab.
Local-first interaction so logging feels instant regardless of connection, with a shared component set for entry rows, portion controls and summary cards. Charts are rendered lightly to keep the app responsive on mid-range devices.
Discovery for a health app happens in app stores and through supporting web content. The web-side foundations here are a descriptive case-study page covering calorie tracker app design, habit-forming interface patterns and nutrition logging UX, plus internal links from the app development service page.
The concept optimises for daily active use — the only metric that matters for a habit product — by making the core action fast enough to become routine.
